This international standard specifies requirements for a quality management system where an organization wishes to demonstrate its ability to consistently provide product that meets customer and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.

Organizations that seek certification to AS9100 commit to enhance customer satisfaction through the effective application of the system, including processes for continual improvement of the system and the assurance of conformity to applicable customer, statutory and regulatory requirements.

QSR^® is one of a select number of firms that have been approved to offer accredited certification to AS9100, including certification to the most recent release of the document published in January 2009. The latest edition of AS9100 is intended to reflect the changes to ISO 9001:2008, while at the same time introducing new requirements for aviation, space and defense companies. As in previous editions, the standard contains the verbatim text of ISO 9001.

Drafters have designed the new edition to be applicable to some 10,000 stakeholders with the expectation that the benefits of implementation will exceed costs. The AS9100 requirements are written in such a way that any size company can implement the changes with a level of complexity commensurate with the complexity of the business.

The latest edition of AS9100 includes a new title to better reflect the document’s applicability to defense and space organizations as well as new or enhanced requirements devoted to project management (Clause 7.1.1), risk management (Clause 7.1.2) and configuration management (Clause 7.1.3 moved from 4.3).
